hi everyone.
why would she sign up for the tma if she didnt want to tralk to
anyone. isnt that what we are all here for?! i too thought about
calling some near by peolpe from the letter, but hesitated. maybe we
can all use this as a way to let all of the "good apples" who are here
for support know that it is ok to call someone. hopefully this was a
rare case and most people would welcome a call.
i do underastand the difficulty in accepting a "disability". i still
have to talk to myself (not outloud most of the time!) and give a pep
talk everytime i go out and see people staring at my awkward gate. i
just say "hey, me and the people that know me know what ive been
through, and that im stronger for it and they are the ones who i care
about what they think of me. it is hard though sometimes making new
friends, not to mention a girlfriend, becauese people do see you
limping and thats the only thing they think about. if people would
take the time to get to know me i know they would see a "normal"
person like them. i am the same person i was before tm only stronger
and with a greater appreciation for life and all the things i can do.
( i say I , but i mean this for all of us.)
im sorry this is so long , hopefully it makes some sense. the support
of this group helps me go out and not worry (toooo much) about the
stares and hopefully other people feel that way too. just like the
blind horse who had all of his friends helpinh him! ( i forgot who
wrothe that post to us but it was great)
ive almost forgotten what started all this.... gunny that "lady"
missed out on a great friend. lets not let the rest of us miss out
on any friends. go ahead and pick up the phone.......
sorry again about my rambling!!
