Hi. I've had the vision evoked potential test, as well as all of the other ep
tests. Completely painless. They stick you in a darkened room, put a bunch
of electrodes on you, cover one eye and have you stare at a dot in the middle
of a tv screen while a checkerboard pattern is moved up, down, side to side
and diagonally on the screen. You just keep staring at that dot while the
pattern moves. Then they move the patch to the other eye and start all over
again. Plan for it to take at least 45 minutes to an hour. The test is used
to diagnose MS, or help rule it out. I went through all of the evoked
potential tests (hearing and extremities), MRI of brain, neck and thorasic
spine, spinal tap, and blood tests before I was finally diagnosed with TM in
August. My first symptoms were in January, so it took them a while to make
the final diagnosis. My lesion is between C4/C5 with a herniated disc at C6.
Let me know if you have any other questions. We're all in this together!
