Some 30 years ago when I still had feet,
I had a problem with hammer toes. The
tendons caused my little toe to curl thus
shoes did not fit. I let them cutr the tendon
on two different occasions. Had to cut
twice because it grew back together.=20
Actually it grew back together after the
second surgery. So, from my perspective
it is (was) no big deal. Your choice.

I also have had the problem of "curley toes" but only on my right =
foot. It
seem to be worse when tiredness and fatigue set in also I was having =
a bad
odema problem in that same leg and foot, but this has bee reduced by =
two
factors, 1. more exercise and I wear a AFO type splint with knee =
length walk
socks and 2. I no longer take Baclofen tablets.
