My number two toes (the ones next to the big toes) curl down so that the
ends of the toes face the floor. When I walk it hurts. My podiatrist says
I need to have the tendon on the bottom of the toes cut to allow the toes
to go straight again?
I hesitate to do this. Do any of you have/had the same problem with a
better solution?
I thought that a device that would fit under the toe and then tape the toe
straight to it would work, but I have not been able to find anything like
that.
Help.

Oh My Goodness!!! I thought I was the only one with this strange occurance...
I have had this same thing occur to me... My doctors were baffled as to why it
was happening, but explained to me that they thought it was one of those "bad
messages" from the CNS.... otherwise they didn't have another explanation...
Whatever you do... DON'T do something drastic to get this to stop... IT WILL
GO AWAY IN TIME!!! I have been paralyzed 6 times.. and it always
happens....but usually in the beginning of my onset... It does last for a long
while and I admit is VERY annoying... I, to be honest with you... just never
put on shoes... stayed in slippers/or sandals....and....If I had to where
shoes... they were VERY loose... Unfortunately, I didn't have control of this
strange event with my toes....But as I said after a long period of time... it
went away...If it is too annoying... try taping your other toes to your BIG
toe...it will force them into submission... LOL... I never had to do this...
as it was just more of a total annoyance than anything else.... But again, my
advice.... Don't do anything...Give your body some time... and if worse comes
to worse, try taping them...
This event with the toes, I admit, does look weird, and is somewhat
embarrassing because you look like you have monkey feet trying to claw the
floor as you walk... But don't worry about this... AT LEAST YOU CAN WALK!
Hang in there.. .and let me know if you see any improvement... My docs would
be fascinated to know there is someone out there with "monkey feet" as well...
My heart is with you on this... it is tough....I understand...
