I had pneumonia prior to the onset of tm. One consideration
when being diagnosed was the suppressed state of my immune
system. I, too, was given steroids which is the standard treatment
for reducing the effects of tm. Again, I also developed diabetes from
the steroid treatment.. The diabetes is steroid induced and I was put
on a diabetic diet, given insulin shots as needed while I was hospit-
alized (11days). I followed a diabetic diet for the 6 weeks following my
hospitalization and monitored my blood sugar. I have not had any fur-
ther bouts of diabetes nor did I ever have to have insulin shots after I
was released from the hospital.
