symptoms are different

Hello Everyone!
What a wonderful greeting I got for my entrance story. I am wondering about
many things.........
I'll start by saying I have never had: girdling (didn't even know what it
was), pain, hence the need for pain medication, steroids, the term "self
cath"....(what is that?), seizures, symptom flare-ups, no problems with sleep,
no problem with fatigue (unless I haven't eaten) there are several more
symptoms I have read here, that I don't have.
What symptoms I do have are: stiffness, dragging my left foot when I walk (I
walk unassisted, always have) the feeling in my legs is not what it is in my
upper body......in other words, I have to use my hands to feel the temperature
of water......yet I can feel a flea walking on my leg. Go figure!! My balance
that is the worst problem. In my opinion, my balance is one thing I could
never regain. Always wondered why that was, I always feel I have to hold onto
things while I walk. I do however, walk just fine when nothing is around to
touch. I know that if someone came up and bumped into me.......I'd fall right
down. I don't have the ability and/or quickness to keep myself from falling.
Since I was diagnosed in 1959, I didn't MRI's or any kind of scans to
determine an injury. The neurologist I had said my TM was from a virus, due
to overexertion. Interesting, huh?
It is late now......I'll look forward to reading your replies.
Thanks to everyone who replied to me on my first mail.
Also......btw......for the few who mentioned that I was lucky for having a
close family. When I was diagnosed at age 9, I had a Mom and Dad......they
are both deceased. I do have my daughter, she is the light of my life.
Sincerely, Kris~
p.s. I do have a hard time finding shoes that don't have rubber or crepe
soles. It is hard to walk in shoes that don't slide on the ground or carpet.
Anyone experience this problem?
