Dear Elizabeth

My daughter was struck by TM in October '98. It happened quickly,
just as it did to Abraham. She was at a birthday party, fell and
said she couldn't feel her legs, then never walked again. She is
paralyzed from the hips down. I don't think you had bad doctors, I
think you had bad luck. TM is such a strange disease. My daughter
was only 9 years old when this happened, very active, atheletic.
It's been difficult dealing with all the changes in our lives since
this happened. We take it one day at a time, and that is absolutely
the only way we get through. If I think too far ahead, I start
freaking out. I personally am still greiving the loss of a lot of
hopes and dreams for my daughter that I had before. However, I am
beginning to have new dreams for her, and believe that she will have
remarkable things to offer society and the people she loves BECAUSE
of what she's been through. She has such a great attitude and keeps
me strong. I hope Abraham does too, and that he continues in
search of his 'niche' in this world, as he certainly has one!

Feel free to correspond with me anytime.
