I haven't heard whether he has received a firm diagnosis yet, but if he has,
or of he is still waiting, I think he needs to be given time to adjust and be
given offers of information and moral support first. That waiting time until a
diagnosis is made and the first few weeks after a diagnosis can be a time of
anguish; often, sooner or later, that gives way (or combines with) a desire to
do all one can to research and combat the disease. Just my opinion...
