Barbara,
He didn't seem to have any concern about the weakness. He is not my PCP. He
doesn't know me anyway. I have an appointment on Thursday. I'm with a
Medicare HMO(PacifiCare to be exact).
The physician(Dr. X) whom I've had since 1988 dropped them in April. I was
sent a letter from PacifiCare giving me 30 days to choose a new physician
or they would do it for me. I got a referral to Dr. A from Dr. X. I sent my
paper work in and when I got my confirmation back, I called for an appt.
Dr. A had quit medicine. I would have to see Dr. B. I still made the appt.
so that they would have some of my history for med refills. When I saw Dr.
B, he told me that the next day would be his last day at that office. He
told me that Dr. C who had been at a different office would be taking over.
I called on Monday to make the appt. and also told them that I needed a
referral from my PCP to my neurosurgeon for prior approval for my baclofen
pump refill. Prior approvals are only given for 3 months at a time.
Whomever I talked to told me that prior approvals take 8-10 days.
I got a call back late yesterday asking me about my message on Monday. She
told me that I could talk with Dr. C at my appt. on Thur.. I get my pump
refilled 6 days after that. I wonder if some people can read. When I first
went into the office, I took 4 pages about my past and the medications I
was taking and why I was taking them.
I've been looking to see if Dr. X is in the directory of a Medicare HMO and
I found one. The company will get a call on Monday and if possible, I will
sign papers on Tues. to get the ball rolling.
Thank you for letting me BLOW! I've been to over 100 M.D.'s in my life.
Some are the top in the country and some have M.D. after their name for
Mighty Dumb!
Barbara, thank you for the reference about TIA. I always make notes before
I go to a Dr.. I will use the printout of your letter to write my notes on.
Thank you again,
John
