All -
Well, I'm having a bummer of a day all of a sudden. I just got back
from seeing my neurologist. He had the results from a follow-up MRI I
had a few weeks ago. My original placque is still shrinking (after
almost 4 years), but I have developed a bulge in my spine around C5 that
is compressing the spinal cord. The neuro wants me to see the
neurosurgeon. He expects that I will need to have the disk removed. In
the meantime, I am to be very careful not to do anything that might
cause a whiplash type injury to my neck. Since I tend to fall alot,
this could be interesting.

The neurosurgeon and I are old buddys. Those of you who have heard my
story before may remember that they ended up doing a biopsy of the
myelin to rule out metastized breast cancer when they first discovered
the placque. Most of my problems are the result of that surgery. This
is a totally different kind of procedure, but I'm not thrilled with the
idea of them mucking about in my neck again.

I just called my primary physicians office to get a authorization for
the neurosurgeon. I'll keep you posted.

(By the way, I asked the neuro about my experience with the dentist and
the gas alleviating the tingling. He said that it made absolute sense,
since the gas deadens the nervous system. He didn't offer to put me on
gas full time though - LOL)

Hi Ann,
I'm sorry to hear about the buldging of the spine compressing the nerve. It
sounds serious. Be extra careful not to fall and our thoughts and prayers will
be with you.
Also try to refrain from any "Whopper Romps",like Bob Cook refered to. LOL
ALL MY BEST,
Phil
