Richard,

Welcome to the best group of people who know what
you are experiencing and want to help you and your wife!!

The traumatic time you mention is well known to all
of us with tm and also our families! Finding this group
will ease many of your questions and help you get past
this point.

When you ask if pins and needles goes away--that is
rather an individual thing. Some of us lost that feeling
and others continue to have it.

The fatigue is a residual of the disease which each of us
copes with in our own ways. It is longlasting--but you learn
to live around it. I plan ahead and limit my other activities
if I have a big event and then rest following day (or days).
Again each of us is an individual case.

Your question about further improvement--YES--improvement
is ongoing. Don't let anyone put limits on her chances of im-
provement. She will have to work to improve, but it is possible
and with a positive attitude she can help herself. I will say that
the early improvements are larger, i.e. from wheelchair to walker
to cane to walking alone. After time the improvements are more
subtle but they are there and you will celebrate each--no matter
how small.

I have been with tm since April 96 and I continue to improve. I
try to maintain a positive attitude and humor is a large part of our
life!! Depression is common early on if you continue to look at what
you used to be able to do, etc. I think that we must look forward and
celebrate our successes rather than look at what is lost (at least for
now).

This is overly long--just know that we are here for you and that at least
some of us have experienced whatever you might need help with--let
us know how both of you are doing.
