Experts to Speak at '98 Disabilities Indiana Conference

The Governor's Planning Council for People with Disabilities invites you to
attend "Celebrate the Promise of the Future: Possibilities Beyond Imagination"
scheduled for November 23 & 24 at the Westin Hotel in Downtown Indianapolis.
The conference provides people with disabilities the opportunity to learn from
the experts about community empowerment, disability legislation, supported
living, and building community inclusion just to name a few!

This year's featured speakers include: John D. Kemp, lawyer and expert on
disability issues and services as well as President and CEO for Very Special
Arts, an international organization that provides learning opportunities
through the arts for persons with disabilities. - Clarence Page, Pulitzer
Prize-winning columnist for the Chicago Tribune and Author of Showing My
Color, Impolite Essays On race and Identity. - Robert 'Bobbv" Silverstein,
Director of the Center for the Study and Advancement of Disability Policy and
Associate Professor with over 25 years experience negotiating and drafting
public policy and providing assistance to policy makers at the Federal State,
and local levels. - Julie Pratt, Project Director of On The Outside, a
compilation of oral histories of people with disabilities who once lived in
institutions. - Aria Ralston, Playwright of On The Outside who uses her
artistic talents to bring about social change by conducting community
workshops about the creative process. - Howard Cobb, a citizen who once lived
in institutions and now fights for the basic rights that most people take for
granted by sharing his oral history through On The Outside.
