Donna,

Welcome to the group of your 'new best friends'!!
You have come to the best place for you to share
your questions and get support of those who know
what you are going through and what you're talking
about.

First of all, I would say that you have your hands full.
I hope that you have help--support from family and
friends (besides us, of course).

About your questions, we all deal differently with our
lives with tm. This depends on our level of disability
and recovery. You mentioned pain--I, for one, have been
able to cope with the pain with just Ex. strength Tylenol
until this summer and I am now taking neurontin for the
burning pain in my legs. One thing I have found about
the pain, most often when I have experienced pain I am
getting some faculty returning-maybe not as it was prior
to tm but at least I am gaining something. You also men-
tioned fatigue. I think that fatigue has been my biggest
problem because I forget that I can't do all I used to do and
I overdo. If I have plans to do something I rest prior to the
event and usually 'lay low' afterwards. I have little stress in
my life as I am retired and my children are all grown and out
of the nest.

I think one of the most important things that we as tmers must
do is accept the fact that we are no longer the person we were
and that we must determine what we can handle and let the rest
go by the wayside--sort of prioritizing our lives. I have one other
suggestion and that is to keep a positive attitude and allow humor
to be a part of your life. Sometimes laughing at what's happening
keeps us from crying!!

As I said, welcome to our group. Feel free to come to us with any
of your problems or questions and somebody in the group will be
able to help.
