Everyone there,

Thank you all who already have answered my question. I thought and
thought and I couldn't figure out for sure what I should have done.

Maybe I'm over-programmed from working so many places where it was a
rule to never never try to pick someone up! You know, I've been told so
many times that it comes to mind when it shouldn't.

Then again, maybe it was because the other couple was there demanding
that I pick him up that made me kind of suspicious that I shouldn't. You
know, why aren't they picking him up? I don't know....you know a
rebellious thought. It also took me by surprise.

I see his daughter coming & going all the time so I might speak with
her about what she would wish that I do - and there is a Physical
Therapist who lives in the complex - I might ask her opinion or go and
get her - she was available at the time a few feet away (inside her
apartment)....but, I am leaning toward thinking I should get him up if I
went over there today and "plop" there he goes again - yet, ....I'm not
really comfortable with it. I would get my Mother up (at the nursing
home) ...which is technically not correct....and maybe not tell that she
fell to avoid all the hulllabaloo over it - but I know my Mom doesn't
have any conditions in particular. I don't know his conditions or that
much about his health, either. ???

I will think about this a little bit more. Your ideas have really
helped. I'm going to ask the Physical Therapist (actually she is an
Occupational Therapist)....see what she thinks I should do. I think if
all of us continue to pick him up - it would keep him out of a nursing
home---which I think is good. But then I would hate for him to really
get hurt bad or to be hurt in the fall and not tell anyone and then turn
into a "real" emergency----I'm going to ask the daughter! I will shut up
now! Thanks
