Teri,

The appropriate commands will differ from one EMAIL
software to another, but the principles are generally
the same. Lynn (who is on WEBTV) and Barbara (who is
on AOL) gave you good advice, although the details of
the commands you give (or buttons you "Press") may differ.

I would expect (after 3 decades in the business) that
all of the products/services will present you with a
window having a "Mail To:" line and a "Cc:" line, much
like the traditional business letter. With EMAIL, any
person or list on either line will get your mail/reply
--- once for every time they are mentioned.

If you use the "REPLY" button, the software will copy
the person in the "From:" part of the header of the
original mail over to the "Mail To:" line.

If you use the "REPLY TO ALL" button, the software
will also copy the stuff after the "CC:" part of the
header of the original mail over to the new "Cc:" line.

These lines can be edited, and they can each have more
than one recipient with commas separating the names.
Because they can be edited, you can delete a person or
list that you don't want to receive your message. You
can, for example, delete the new recipient, move a
single person from the "CC:" line to the "Mail To:"
line, and delete all the remaining people on the "CC:"
line.

"tmic-list(AT)eskimo.com" is a special kind of recipient.
Any EMAIL you send to this recipient actually goes to
a special piece of software that resends the EMAIL to
all the registered subscribers. And that includes you.

For example, this particular EMAIL is sent to you as
"fburns(AT)bellsouth.net" and copied to the tmic-list.
You will get a message directly from me and another a
moment later resent from that software. The "Resent-Date:"
and the "Date:" lines will differ by about three hours,
a time zone difference.
