I was diagnosed t-8 in April 1996 and was initially
paralyzed from waist down. Within 6 weeks I was
walking with walker/cane and by 3 months was
walking guardedly alone. I needed my hubby's arm
when in crowds and uneven ground as our yard,
shopping cart when in the supermarket.
Today I have regained most faculties. I still have
bladder/bowels worries and only limited feeling in
my legs. I continue to gain feeling and bladder/
bowel control.
I hope that your brother-in-law is getting some PT as
I rec'd same for duration in hospital (11 days) and for
first 6 weeks that I was home.
A positive attitude and humor go a long way in aiding
recovery!! I hope that these two attributes are present
with your family.
I also cannot say enough for the power of prayer. Our
prayers are with you.
