<< So, has any doctors pulled the excuses of hormones, something big
happening in your life that disturbes you, men, mental problems ect.... >>
"...Sadly, with my first attack of TM I was told that I couldn't walk because
it was "all in my head"...The Neuro said I worked too hard, trying to be a
single mom, holding down 3 offices in 3 states was just too much, and this was
my body's way of giving out/taking a break.. He didn't have a clue...(Get
this, when the results of my spinal came in...his exact words were: "Good
news. You don't have Syphilis!" And you're lucky, you don't have
MS either." Needless to say, I wouldn't let that jerk back into my hospital
room... EVER... He was not focusing on my SYMPTOMS... he'd not heard a word
I'd said!!")
<< Also, I have had doctors write in my charts(even though they are not
suppost to
do this) that they thought I was making the whole thing up to get
attention(I'm an ONLY child people!! I can't get any more attention!!) or that
they thought I was just plain nuts!! Of course these charts are being sent to
Dr. Lynn so I'm afraid that she wont take the time to
actually look at me seriously and just pass me off. *sigh*>>
This is very common for doctors, (This is especially true for neuros...
because they are essentially "brain doctors.") writing their initial
impressions in the charts... However, their "impressions" must be supported by
psychological evidence... Because neuros are not psychiatrists/or
psychologists... their "impressions" will not "stand up to scrutiny". The
only evidence that can be used in any diagnosis must be clinically based,
otherwise their "impressions/or conclusions" CAN NOT be weighed in your
diagnosis... You must point this out to your new doctor, but only if she
leans toward supporting their initial conclusions. If she leans against
you...tell her quite frankly that you will endure "WHATEVER kind of
psychological tests to PROVE that their 'impressions' are complete
HOGWASH!!!" I did this..and won my battle! Because your new doctor is a
woman she may fully understand the bias against women when it comes to
diagnosis and medicine...
Hang in there.... and GOOD LUCK!!! τΏτ
