OK, I'm 17 years old and a girl.(Keep this in mind because it's
important!!!) Before being diagnosed with TM I had been to 7 doctors(all
of them thought that I had "Womanly problem" probably resulting from
"Boy trouble"!!!! HAHAHA) and 2 neuros.( We stopped seeing the other one
since he stuck me with a DIRTY NEEDLE!!!) Finally, with the help of my
grandfather, a doctor, I was able to get diagnosed by a neuro. Well,
after a bit he decided, even though I have ALL the simptoms of TM, that
I had a mental problem.(Once again this mental problem was brought about
by "woman problems resulting from boy trouble!!) I HAVE NO BOY
PROBLEMS!!! I have seen the same man for the past 2 years with no
problems!!!
Well, even though this doctor is a woman I am afraid that she will try
and pull the same excuse on me. I know I have TM. I have had 2 doctors
(friends of the family) agree that I have all the simptoms and that this
could be nothing else. I just don't want to be shoved aside again. I
have even resorted to writing a report on what has happened to me during
my illness and what my main problems are that I need help with.
So, has any doctors pulled the excuses of hormones, something big
happening in your life that disturbes you, men, mental problems ect....
I also want to know what you do to get your point across at the doctors.
I just need help to find the right medications, PT and the sort. Also, I
have had doctors write in my charts(even though they are not suppost to
do this) that they thought I was making the whole thing up to get
attention(I'm an ONLY child people!! I can't get any more attention!!)
or that they thought I was just plain nuts!! Of course these charts are
being sent to Dr. Lynn so I'm afraid that she wont take the time to
actually look at me seriously and just pass me off. *sigh*
Well, that's my story. Have any of you seen Dr. Lynn before? What do
you do to get Dr's to take you seriously?? I need any help I can get her
ladys!!!
