WEST ORANGE, N.J., July 22 /PRNewswire/-- KESSLER Institute for
Rehabilitation, New Jersey's largest comprehensive physical medicine and
rehabilitation hospital, was voted number four among America's best
rehabilitation hospitals, according to a nationwide survey of physicians
conducted by US News and World Report Magazine. This year's ranking makes the
seventh consecutive year that Kessler has been listed among the nation's top
rehabilitation hospitals.
"We're enormously proud of the fact we've been considered among the best for
the last seven years and that our ranking has continuously increased each
year," said Robert Krotenberg, MD, Senior Medical Officer for Kessler
Institute for Rehabilitation. "Our ranking is a direct result of the
dedication and commitment of our staff to provide the best care possible. It
is also an honor to be recognized by fellow physicians for providing expert
care."
The US News and World Report rankings were devised in conjunction with the
national Opinion Research Center (NORC), a noted social-science research group
located at the University of Chicago. A geographic cross-section of 2,400
board certified physicians were randomly selected from the American Medical
Association's database and asked to name the five hospitals they consider the
best in their specialty. Overall, 16 specialties are ranked, but four,
including rehabilitation, pediatrics, psychiatry and ophthalmology, are based
solely on reputation because data such as mortality rates are irrelevant or
unavailable.
Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation is New Jersey's largest rehabilitation
provider with four inpatient hospitals located in Chester, East Orange, Saddle
Brook and West Orange and outpatient centers located throughout northern New
Jersey. Kessler is recognized both nationally and internationally for its
specialty programs in spinal cord injury, mild and traumatic brain injury,
chronic and acute pain management, stroke rehabilitation, amputee services,
post-polio rehabilitation and orthopedic rehabilitation. The ninth annual
ranking of "America's Best Hospitals", appears in the July 27 issue of US News
and World Report now available. For more information about Kessler Institute
