Sharon:

I tried, in vain, to cure my gall bladder disease with diet and supplements.
I started taking Lecithin (supposed to be good for your gall bladder) but the
pain was always there. A nagging pain that never went away, but it was better
if I avoided popcorn and some other foods. Then one night I had a grilled
steak, baked potato with butter and sour cream. The next morning I was in
the hospital with a severe gall bladder attack. My gall bladder was infected
from trying to handle it myself and letting it go for so long. I was in shock
when I was in the emergency room and my blood pressure dropped to 50 over 30.
I found out then that this was nothing I wanted to try to handle on my own!
After strong antiobiotics by IV, and then by mouth, I went home to get ready
for surgery. I went on a strict low fat diet, lost 50 pounds, and started
taking vitamin c to help with healing after the surgery that was coming. We
scheduled surgery and I had the "scope" surgery--very simple and quick. Gall
bladder surgery is now very rarely the old fashioned incision that takes weeks
to heal. I was up walking around the next morning and went home the next day.
I went to the mall 3 days after surgery! (I do admit that THAT was a
mistake....lol). Anyway, don't be afraid of surgery. Even if they can't do
the scope surgery the incision surgery isn't nearly as bad as it used to be.
So, go to the doctor and find out if you do have gall bladder disease. It's
better to have surgery than to risk becoming very ill from infection. That's
something someone with TM doesn't want, huh?
