Hello to everyone:

I'm a new to having TM and this support group. I joined last week and
am just now telling you my story. I am a very lucky TM person in that
I have an extremely mild case. I went into the hospital on May 5th of
this year with numbness from my armpits down. I had no bladder/bowel
function. All the tests were negative (MRI, CAT scan, EEG, EKG,
Spinal Tap, etc...). There is no scarring of the spinal cord. 6 days
later I was able to go to the bathroom without a catheter and I left
the hospital - with the doctors permission. The neurologist gave me a
month off work. I had problems walking, but can walk pretty normal
now. I still have numbness and no sense of hot/cold or pin-prick
pain. I am back to work. Last week I started taking yoga.

I should probably tell you that I would have refused steroids if they
had wanted me to take any BECAUSE - I am trying to be a naturalist. I
have gone to an acupuncturist and an energy healer. The energy healer
has done me the most good. I don't know if any of you have access to
alternative healing methods, but give them a try - I believe it has
helped me. I would also like to believe that my case is so mild
because I have been doing energy work for several years now. I think
it's important to know that the energy healer I go to mentioned that
the energy associated with TM is very similar to MS. I myself cannot
see energy, but I do believe this person I go to can see energy
patterns and can help to heal, by helping to move out the unhealthy
energy from our body.

The reason it took me so long to send an introductory to myself is
because I felt bad that my case is so mild and some of you have some
real challenges. BUT - I thought I should let you know what I have
done in case it helps someone else. I also feel like some would think
the alternative practices are bogus and 'weird'. The way I look at it
is - hey whatever works.

My best to you all - I hope you all find a way to heal yourselves.

Rose from Maryland.

P.S. To understand a little where I come from in my beliefs of
healing and such you can read any one or more of the books written by
Dr. Andrew Weil. He makes a lot of sense to me.
