Hi Margie,
Guess what? I am a 42 year old female who had radiation for Hodgkin's Lymphoma
at the age of 25. I have just been diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis after
having very unpleasant symptoms that started -21/2 years ago- very much like
your husband's! I had tingling in my arms and weakness. Gradually, my legs
began stiffening. I have balance problems as well as bladder and bowel
difficulties. My MRI and Spinal Taps are negative, but the clinical exam shows
positive Babinski on both sides as well as other evidence of myelopathy. My
new doctor says that steroids through IV's could have been tried in the
beginning but it was too late now to do that. Perhaps you should mention this
to your doctor. Now I have trouble walking and have permanent damage. There is
no guarantee that that treatment would have worked, but it might have kept
things from getitng this bad.I take baclophen, and Amantadine and started
physical therapy. Let me know how he is doing and feel free to e-mail me
anytime! Love, Karen
