Hi this Ken O in TX you were wondering how long before you get recovery
from this. It was 17 yrs ago that I came down with tm. They called it
inflamation of the mylin sheath of the spinal cord after a spinal tap
and mylegram. Mine was at the C7 and the paralysis was from the arm pits
down. After nine weeks in the hospital I was able to walk from the house
to the car and this improved for the next 6 to 10 months. At that time I
could walk without any help , but I was in Northern Mi and when the deep
snow (90in at my place) I had to use crutches and have been on them more
or less ever since.

I was a pastor at that time and continued for 6yrs when an ulcer took
half my stomack and forced my retirement. At present I use cane ,
crutches & three wheeled walker depending on the day. The pain has been
much of he deciding factor for mobility. A neuro. told me when two years
had gone by " What I had then I would live with and I would have good
days and bad days and be thankful for the good ones", he hit it on the
head.

At present I just changed neuro. and am taking neurontan with a much
lowered level of pain for the first time in years.
The best help I had in the hospital was a D.O who put me on 15,000 mgs
of vitamin C IV for 8weeks. You can't take that much orally. I had
Prednisone for two weeks.

Keep up your courage and prayer does some wonderful things when we don't
think we can take it. The way I pray when I can't say much more is "
Dear Father in heaven I give this pain to you and I thank you for taking
it." He has done it many times for me. So long for now.
