Hi Michelle,

Welcome to the list. You will find some wonderful people here to help
you. Your onset of TM was similar to mine. I showed great improvement
after taking the steriods, however, my doctor started me on Avonex shots
a week after stopping the steriods and I have been taking them every
since. I was lucky because my doctor decided to go after this
aggresively. They also suspect I may go into MS because of the way my TM
presented itself. However, nothing is certain and I remain hopeful. I
have seen much improvement with the Avonex. It does not cure the
illness, however, it is supposed to delay a possible relapse and make
any relapse less severe. I have also noted my symptoms have improved on
it as well. My neurologist says that Avonex acts as an
immunosuppressant, as they suspect some forms of TM to be an autoimmune
disorder. Since I also have myasthenia gravis, this supported that mine
was probably autoimmune. I still have a very stiff neck toward the
evenings and spasicity in my legs, so the doctor also put me on baclofen
and amantadine for fatigue.

I have noticed constant improvement in my symptoms over time. Hope this
helps.
