I have had tm for several years now, and have been reading this tmic
for only a few months now. The thing that strikes me is how many
different experiences with tm there are. Some people, like me, were
completely paralyzed from the waist down and have recovered to some
degree, some remain paralyzed, and others were not completely
paralyzed but suffer numbness, weakness, etc. I never had any of the
flu like symptoms that so many did .. I jerked my back about a week
prior to tm's onset, but had no other indications. Are the three
different examples I've described differnt types of tm, different
"strains" as in flu , or just varying degrees? To what degree have
the people who share my experience recovered? What problems do you
have now? pain, spacticity, bladder, etc.
I have taken up a lot of time already, but I would like to say a bit
more on my email name. It is a town in my favorite movie (which I
won't name to see if anyone knows it....just a little fun to lighten
things up). The lead character Andy Dufrane reminds us all how
important hope is. I think it is even more important for all of us.
We must all have our own individual hopes and goals to keep us going,
as well as having as a group the hope that we can all work together
doing whatever we can to find answers and some day traetment/cure for
tm. No matter what negative things people (doctors) say, hope is a
good thing and along with a positive attitude and hard work it will
get us all to our zawatanao someday! So I hope I havent taken toooo
much time, and I hope to hear from you soon. thank you , Randall
Stevens.
