Maria - Sorry your having so much trouble with your neuro. It took me a
while to be able to communicate with either the neuro or the neuro
surgeon. I work in high tech in Silicon Valley, and I've gotten used to
the super techies in the computer industry. I've started looking at the
medical specialists in the same way. They are the technicians, but may
be pretty lacking in people skills. It can make it pretty irritating to
deal with them. I can deal OK with lack of bedside manner, but
arrogance is definitely a problem. I did "fire" a cancer specialist
once because he was such a jerk. So - my opinion, for what its worth,
is - if your first neuro is good technically, and willing to learn more
about TM and related diseases, try to work things out. If that doesn't
look feasible, try to find someone else. Depending on your trust and
relationship with your primary physician, my experience is that mine
refers me to the best specialists he can. Sometimes, however, you may
need your primary to translate what is going on. My hubby is going to a
top heart specialist - excellent technician, but very uninformative.
The heart guy sends reports to the primary, and he does an excellent job
of explaining what is going on.
Enough rambling on for now, keep us posted - Ann
