Patti,

There seem to be two possibilities here:
a) The will not sell.
b) They will not finance the sale.

If they will not sell, I believe JanH is right on. It sounds like a
violation of Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
If they will not finance, they may be on firm ground.

I see at least 4 options for you:

a) Call a lawyer. I suspect you will be out $50 to $100, but
you should get whatever you are entitled to.

b) Get your financing elsewhere. (And probably buy elsewhere!)

c) Call your state's Health & Human Services or whatever it is
called where you live. New Hampshire, for example, has a
Governor's Council on Disabilities with an office in the
Department of H & HS. You might call the governor's office
and ask if they have an ombudsman. All of this might be
available on the web. My magic site is www.state.nh.us Try
substituting your state abreviation for my "nh"; it works
for "MD".

d) Follow the federal path starting with the
Department of Justice ADA Home Page
http://www.usdoj.gov/crt/ada/adahom1.htm
You can get a ton of stuff there.

Alton, who is NOT a lawyer
