Hello fellow TMers and thoes relating to us !
I was reading (YES - I am a lurker!) about "thinking that TM is to
blame for everything else". I agree, it's easy to do that ! I had
POLIO many years ago. I was just a "wee brat" of about 1 year of age,
so I don't remember it and my Mom would never tell me about it. Well, of
course, I figure there HAS TO BE some connection, when they even have a
name for it (but I forgot the name!!) but DOC . .I did - I SWEAR I DID
- come out of the hopitol with "ZITS" on the end of my nose that weren't
there before !!!! Anyway - although I don't completely agree with him,
my Doctor feels there's no connection with the polio from some 52 years
ago. Now the 'ZITS" may be a different story ??!!!
SHARON: good luck on the "Tap". Noone should tell it's not so bad, cause
everyone's different. I try to take myslf mentally elsewhere - even if i
have to squeeze my eyes shut to concentrate. I found it helped me to ask
how long it would take and for the guy to tell me once or twice how much
longer it would be. I thought maybe because I was so numb, it didn't
hurt too much.I totally agree about laying flat for a few hours after!
They screwed up the 4-hr-flat rule for me tho - and I layed flat for 12
hours! oh well, no headache problems !
MAUREEN: Who knows how long it takes to get back strength - we're all
so similar - but so different! I remember clearly what day I woke up
having MUCH MORE balence and control. My legs still act a bit spastic
when I'm on them too long. The other day, I woke with arms briefly
feeling like lead weights - due to lots of book lifting the previous day
? -who knows?
GEOFF: I think - after being socked with all that stuff - I'd set aside
some time each day to clamp on a set of headphones & connect myself to
some "stop-the-world-I-want-to-get-off-for-awhile" music. If you do that
- then be sure to come back and chat with us !! Best wishes to you !!
CHERRY: Welcome - you are a "new Years Eve" TMer ? Well, welcome to
a group that I've found to be very caring, kind and thoughtful people-
even if they're lurking - like me). I'm affected at C2 to C4, but have
improved greatly! Good luck in your search for info.! ask us anything!!
Well, guys - If you remember, the Doctors found 4(it was 3!) brain
aneurisms while testing for the TM.So, July 7th, they'll go into the
head-just above the left ear and try to clamp off 3 of them - big one is
right in the middle of my head. If all goes well, 3 - 4 months later,
they'll go into the right side and try for the 4th. So far, I'm doing Ok
with the thought of it. I'll try and keep in touch, or ask hubby to.
Later ! the St. Patty's Day TMer - Pat Norling (CyberMom52 in chats)
