Howdy! I just recently found the myelitis.org on the internet and was
very, very, very happy to see it!

I was diagnosed with TM Dec 31 1997 after having spinal tap, MRI and
myelogram. My TM is located in the L4-L5 spine. At this point, I am able
to walk (with a cane and a limp), drive, do pretty normal things. After
reading some of the stories other people posted on this web site, I feel
very lucky.

I started having numbness back in Dec 1996 and thought I was just gaining
weight and dismissed it. Then I started having knee problem which caused
me to limp. Got that taken cared of by arthroscopy surgery. The
orthopedist did some testing a few weeks after surgery and noticed that my
right leg wasn't functioning properly so he sent me to a neurologist. That
neurologist finally pinned it down to TM. Now, he is basically doing the
"wait and see". I've been going to a Physical Medicine guy and been
getting injections on my back with anesthesia for pain I'm having. He
couldn't use steroids since I had TB meningitis back in 1987. The other
meds that have been prescribed to me doesn't help me much because I get
drowsy and sleepy. I can't be in this tate all the time since I'm a signel
mom with 2 kids. My hubby passed away in 1993 from a bicycle accident.

I am looking for a neurologist in this area (Dallas Metroplex) that has had
experience with TM. Is three any one out there from this area?

Thanks in advance for any help.
