Kathleen, JanH here. Yes, I developed a case of
shingles for the first time after the tm had affected
me. There is some correlation with chicken pox
virus. I've read that the virus may invade the root of
a nerve in the brain stem or spinal cord and lay dor-
mant for years until it is reactivated. It causes se-
vere pain follow by a rash that form a group of blisters
on the skin that lies above the nerve. My case of
shingles were lower than my area of paralysis thus
I never knew the pain for I had no feeling. My derma-
tologist said it was a great way to have shingles if I
had to have them at all.(LOL)!
I hope that your mother is doing better now. Let us
know. JanH
