Mylan Announces Approval on Generic Plaquenil
PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 3, 1998--Mylan Laboratories Inc. (NYSE:
MYL) announced today that it has received approval from the Food and Drug
Administration to manufacture and market Hydroxychloroquine Sulfate tablets
USP, 200mg.
This product is the generic equivalent of Sanofi Winthrop
Pharmaceuticals' Plaquenil(R), which is indicated for the suppressive
treatment and treatment of acute attacks of malaria. It is also indicated for
the treatment of lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis.
The product will be manufactured in Morgantown, West Virginia. Shipment
will begin shortly.
