Let me chime in here;
This is good advice. I learned the same lesion with my Mother having
cancer some 25 years, plus my own experiences. In every hospital some
where written is a policy that says each patient is ultimately
responsible for there own health. "let that sink in" You are the patient
and you are responsible for your own health. For insurance reasons these
policies and others are in place to protect the institution. [For
instance if you go an Emergency ward and there not set up for your
particular problem and you die. Your family will be notified that you
received the best care given for the area, location, regardless of your
opinion-circumstances].
The medical profession IMO is not unlike any other. Like a mechanic
repairing your car. If you don't tell them when you want it back they'll
take other more demanding customers and get there car out first, ahead
of yours. "I like to think most take pride but some are just putting in
the time"
You need to have an understanding right from the start that this is not
a point of disagreement/argument only what your expecting as a patient
under care form a professional. If the professional knows your criteria
then he/she can decide what is best and may recommend you to seek other
council or comply with your desires. "I've a dozen stories along this
line"

Old saying are true. "the squeaky wheel gets the grease." FWIW

God bless you all.
