difficulty breathing

Kathy,
I wanted to also mention that I have had some difficulty breathing also.
I am paralised from T2. My problem has been breathing to shallow. This
has been explained to me that it is partly because of the way the
muscles in my chest are not being made to expand as well. My PT has me
to lay with a couple towels rolled up together, like a newspaper would
look, placed along the spine just below my shoulders. (I'm laying on my
back) I will lay this way for only for 5 minutes 2 times a day. This
helps these muscles to expand and makes it easier to taka a deeper
breath. You do have to keep doing this every day. I has really helped
me so you may want to encourage her to try this. If we don't expand our
lungs we are setting ourselves up for worse problems.
Hope this if helpful to Haley.
So sorry this has happened to someone so young. Young or 'older' it is
a loss and we need to be encouraged to go forward. I think it must be
much harder for a child of her age to ajust and except to this. Best
wishes from all of us.
