Has anyone on this list taken Avonex shots? My neurologist wants to start me
on Avonex, if the medical group board approves it. Avonex is a form of
interferon apparently. The neuro is now treating me as if I have MS. He
said all my symptoms are MS and he feels I was in "attack" for the past few
weeks. I had vertigo, dragging leg, more numbness, urinary difficulties,
etc... He said Avonex helps to prevent new MS attacks.

Hi Sharon,
I have not taken Avonex injections,but I feel compelled to
reply,because time is of the essence for you. Avonex injections given weekly
seem to be the drug of choice in prevention of MS attacks and is proven to
retard progression of MS.Another important factor is it's 99.5% saftey factor
of not damaging a persons vital organs.The down side seems to be the
probability of discomfort(flu-like symptoms,nausea,more severe
effects,etc)within the 24hr post injection.Benefits seem to outweigh the
risks,by far.I hope this info is useful for you.
