Dear Rudy,
I stopped cathing when my residuals came down to < 100 cc. I had to do it since cathing was creating so much problems like frequent urinary tract infections and hence missed work days. My urologist wanted me to continue but because of the frequent infection my internist asked me stop. I had TM 7 years ago. Now once in two years they check to make sure there is no back pressure on the kidneys because of residual urine. I haven't had problems so far.

Hello Everyone,

I've been on the TM wagon for the past 5 months now and the
only major thing that I still need to beat is this blatter thing. (I've
already learned to live with all the little things.)
I want to stop self cathing, because I'm having a really bad time
with it. My blatter doc. told me to wait 6 months to see where I'm
at, so my big appt. is next month.

My question is has anyone had to start self cathing then got to a
point when they did not need to do it anymore? I only self cath now
in the morning and at night. I'm cool during the day when I'm active.
I do the measuring thing every time I cath, and my lowest residual
now is 70 cc's. Which is pretty good I think considering two months
ago it used to be 300 cc's. Does anyone know how low a residual is good
enough to stop cathing. I want to go see my doc. now, because I feel I could
stop but I don't want to pay the money for the appt. if he's just going to
tell
me to wait until next month to see him again.

Thanks for any info.

Sincerely,

- Rudy.
