Thanks so much for your responses, thoughts, and prayers!! They do mean a lot.
I just talked to my dad's dr. and evidently the current crisis is passed -- he
has stabilized and will be on the ventilator another few days, but, barring
further complications, should get better. We had decided, since we had already
put plans in motion to go, to go on ahead anyway to see him. The dr. said he
thought that was a good idea, because the rest of his overall prognosis with
the heart failure (his heart is only pumping 10% of what comes in...I don't
know if the rest of it backs up, like a traffic jam, or what) and lung cancer
is very poor and anything could happen anytime, and it would be good to see
him while he is alert and knows we're there.
