For dryness, I'd reccommend Dove soap, Thermasilk shampoo and conditioner and
an excellent HUMIDIFIER that you keep filled with water on a regular basis.
Once I let it run out of water, and I felt the implications for more than a
day. Also, I use netted puffs for washing and try not to use such hot water.
Now then, I have a "questionne" (as the french say -haha). I hope that
someone can help me with it. I'll remind you again that I have been paralyzed
for 13 years because of TM. Most other paralyzed people I know suffer from
spasticity. I don't, I am completely flaccid. I wonder if this is why I seem
to suffer from continual pressure sores. Had one on my rear when I was 15,
had plastic surgery and never had trouble again. But I seem to have
continuous problems with my feet! I'm ready to cut the darn things off!
Whether it's nail problems, dryness, bending toes and no shoes seem to leave
my feet unharmed. This is a problem since I'm supposed to show up at work in
office clothes. And let's face it, I'm 25 and a little vain, I want to be
able to wear nice shoes, within reason of course.
Anyways, I seem to have one pressure sore each, one the back and to the
outside of my heels on my feet. I have had these sores for 8 years, yes I
said 8 years. I have tried everything. I sleep with my feet elevated (I also
suffer from edema if I don't take the proper precautions), sleep with a pillow
under my feet to avoid the hard bed, had skin grafts done twice on each foot
(didn't work). I have been dressing with bandages these stupid sores for
eight very long years. Can't go swimming, have to watch the shoes that I wear
(I tried going without for a period of 6 months - didn't do anything), tried
soaking my feet in salt water. You get the point, I have tried everything....
Can someone please suggest anything...?
Gone to work tonight...will check responses throughout the week. Hope someone
can help....thanks in advance.
Hope everyone has a lovely week.
Jennifer :) (the formerly crazy canuck - lol)
P.S. And don't anyone tell me that I'm a pain in my own foot - lol
