I have a couple of questions I'd sure appreciate your input on. I use a
powered chair in my house and a manual chair for outings outside the
house. My powered chair is getting very tired and I'm told I'll need to
replace it soon. The chair I have now is a BEC (I'm told they aren't
making them anymore) and I like the design because it has the smaller
wheels which make getting through doorways easier, however being a T5
injury - I find myself constantly struggling for balance - pushing back
on the back of the chair and I think it has caused me some curvature of
the spine - I think if I had a chair that the back titled back on a bit
it might help me sit up straighter - or at least not be leaning forward
so much. Can you share with me your experiences regarding powered
chairs - any you'd recommend and any you would not, to help me in making
my decision. Also, I have medicare and a medicare supplemental policy,
does medicare cover a portion of powered chairs theses days - at one
time they did and then I heard they did not????
Also, my next question I know is really dumb, but I've never had anyone
to talk to regarding the terms used when describing spinal cord injuries
so can I ask ya' all (thinking of Bob in Houston) what is the
difference in "complete" and "incomplete" when referring to paralysis?
Thanks for your help,
God bless,
Claudia
