The following is information taken from an article,in Exceptional
Parent, March 1998 titled "Trouble-free vacations", by Richard
Epstein.
There are a number of sources of information that can help families
avoid accommodation difficulties when traveling.
The Directory of Travel Agencies for the Disabled, Twin Peaks press,
PO Box 129, Vancouver, WA 98666 630-694-2462 and for credit card
orders call 800-637-2256. This directory offers a list of travel
agencies that specialize in planning trips for people with
disabilities.
A number of magazines and books offer detailed information on hotels,
cruise ships, airlines, and vacation areas. Easy Access to National
Parks, Sierra Club Books; 800-935-1056. It offers detailed
descriptions of the accessibility level of America's national parks.
Great American Vacations For Travelers With Disabilities [Random
House, 800-533-6478] includes information on accessible restaurants,
hotels, and resort areas across North America.
Accent on Living [800-787-8444] is a magazine for people with
disabilites and has a wide range of helpful guide booklets for
traveling, as well. One booklet, Ideas for Easy Traveling, written by
a person with a disability, contains information on accessible
vacation areas within the United States.
