Re: suggestions

Acupunture and Chinese herbs have helped me in terms of pain reduction,
bladder control and prevention of infections, and return of bowel function
(although not like before, but close enough). Acupuncture is one of the few
medical modalities that is able to positively affect nerve function and
health, as well as immune system strength. It's important to be treated by
a highly skilled acupuncturist, not someone with 6 months training. I feel
some of the needles as painful since I've had TM--especially in my feet,
which are very sensitive--but even so, it's still not like a shot needle,
and the pain subsides in 1-2 minutes, after which I just relax (lying down)
for the rest of the treatment.

Massage therapy helps with joint, ligament, and muscle tightness, stretching
things out. It is, however, very painful.

Chiropractic helps keep the spinal column aligned, and since my back is
fluid above T5 and stiff below, it gets out of whack easily. I had a
chiropractor who also did cranial-sacral therapy, which is very gentle, but
I'm not sure how much it added to the mix--although the theory, that it
helps the normal flow of fluid around the spinal cord, sounds quite
plausible. The chiropractic hurts some, mostly to loosen some of the
muscles around the spine, allowing it to be more easily realigned.

The number one thing I would try is acupuncture, which can actually aid
nerve healing, and nothing else I know does that.
