O.K., I understand the why's of Jake's paralysis,and his bowel and bladder,
and the muscle spasms, the girdle feeling, the scoliosis. They have been
explained to us medically and just by looking at the spinal cord and
nervous system we get all of that. But we don't get the headaches and the
fatigue. Jake's fatigue is not from depression (he did have a couple short
lived depression related fatigue times). But he does not make it through a
whole week of school, not even a whole day. We have shortened his days to
4 hours instead of the normal six and he still does not make a whole week.
He usually wakes up at least one day out of the week with a lot of back
pain, stomach pain and headache and sleeps for the entire day---and then
he's better. How are we going to get him through High School like this?
How do you all get through work? What I'm saying is Fatigue and headaches
aren't a result of a lesion in the spinal cord, and from a medical stand
point, schools and work places need a black and white written form telling
them what is wrong with a person, before they will accept the disability.
Even the Dr's say "welllll, his fatigue must be from depression." But
fatigue isn't the only sign of depression and he doesn't exhibit any other
signs...he is very active, eats well and laughs alot. oops getting too
long here Judi
