Actually, the more I think about it, I think it may not be an unidentified
virus but rather any virus -- flu, chicken pox, or whatever -- going beyond
what we think of as its "normal" range. Maybe that's why there are so many
different factors that seem to set it off?

One neurologist told me TM was an allergic reaction, like a rash on the skin,
only it affected the spine. But he said even if he had been there the day I
was exposed to whatever I "reacted" to, and could've analyzed everything in my
system, he still wouldn't be able to pinpoint what set off the TM reaction
because we're exposed to so many things it's just impossible to tell which one
"did it." He's the only one who said anything like this, though.

I do think it is helpful to compare notes as we've been doing. Maybe at some
point we'll find a common thread that will help solve the mystery and help
toward treatment or cure.
