Kevin O'C:
In the past inoculations for the flu were recommended for the very young
or old. But with the advent of cheaper injections there is a push "as
you point out" to have an injection every year, as the strain becomes
identified. In my area you don't even have to get out of the car. You
just role down the window [of course] and pop, "u b gone".
I always think of the Swine Flu scare in the early eighties though. They
handed out two sheets to be read and signed. One covered all the
problems one could have from the injection. My friend and roommate who's
idea was to get the shot, did, I begged out.
Poor guy was sick for three or four days. I had to bring him food and
meds sense he couldn't get down the stares. I remember the first time he
came down, he slid down on his butt!
Not to say that if my family doctor called me and told me I needed the
shot I would get it. It's just if your not in a risk group, why bother?
But then again twenty thousand die from flu and flu related illnesses a
year. And this winter there has been a greater number of people going to
there doctor's for flu illnesses.
What's a person to do? When confronted with the lesser of two evils.
Your choice was made for you by the status quo.(
