Gerry,

I'm going to send my response to your letter to the tmic list also...in
case someone else can make use of these suggestions.

I go from my wheelchair to my couch...and from my couch to the
livingroom floor. (Haven't seen my bed since TM hit...it's upstairs!).
I cannot get back up on the couch without help. (I cannot walk yet).

When I'm in the crawling position...I arch my back..then gently rock my
body forward and backward. I do this a few times as long as it's
comfortable. Then..
again gently so I don't lose my balance...
I slowly "wag my tail".

They haven't told me I have deterioration of muscle mass but if I had
not gone to a chiropractor I probably would have that too!! I had such
pain in my BUTT that I cried because of it . I went to a chiropractor
and found out my HIP WAS OUT!! He put my hip back in place and before I
left his office that horrible pain was GONE!!! I go back to him about
every three days now because I have to be lifted in and out of my
wheelchair and in and out of the car and it throws my hip back out.
Once I can walk again I won't throw it out so much and will probably
only go once a week.

Do you have anyone with you that could gently rub your back and butt in
that area while you are laying face down on the floor? That would help
too. Also...moist heat...Take a dish cloth or hand towel...get it wet
and microwave it for two minutes...put it in a Ziploc bag...wrap a dry
towel around it and lay it on that area that hurts so much.

You should also change your sitting position every 15 minutes. Shift
around or something ...lean over and rub that area to get the blood flow
going.

I hope you get some relief from these suggestions. If I can help you
any more just let me know.
