On March 25-26, 1997, TM struck and I was paralyzed from my nipples on
down. My lesion is at T-6. It was so inflammed that the MRI showed a
'bulge'.
About the 1st of June, I was able to wiggle my big toe on my left foot.
Now I can walk about 300 feet using a walker and a brace on my right leg.
I have also regained bowel and bladder control.
My most frustrating problem right now, is the inability to sit in my wheel
chair for any legnth of time! After about one hour, I get sever pain in my
buttocks ((AT) the ischium), severe pain at top of thighs where they hit the
cushion, pain across the tail bone area and a bad spasm accross the lower
back. The only way I can get relief is to get out of the wheel chair and
lie down.
We have tried at least six different wheel chair cushions and got NO
relief. I have had injections of Cortisone and all I got from them was
more pain? I have tried various strengths of Baclofen, Pamelor and
Neurontin and have gotten only minor relief!
Have any of you experienced this? If yes, what did you do to get relief?
Thanks,
