Information and exposure are the best form of public education, and as always
there are two sides to every story. First of all the actual facts then the
'leading' to the publics education thus in this case research and a cure.
The media is the vehicle of inlightenment it is a very funny animal (as has
been exibited in resent weeks). I am in politics and have had my share of
good and bad media coverage, this includes a Nightline. Nightline is a
"fact's only the fact's' program, yet even they had the final say in what was
aired. I am very close to several producers and they have directors, not to
mention editors. These individuals each have a say, yet it is a final
compromise on all parts that brings the final finished product. FINISHED
product means education of the public thus 'our' ability to place the research
$$$$$ on the door-step of those in power. Joel, maybe Tracy is attempting to
get the information out thus sparking the information era of TM, $$$$, due to
the close nature of all spinal cord disorders.
I do understand your point and believe that if the facts are established,
someone will come looking for the other portion of the story. Unfortunately
most 'backers' -'media'
don't put on stories that don't inspire their viewer. but remember once the
story is out, then other more or less informed sources will possibly take up
the fight and the expossure. WE NEED A CURE, and if it goes through the way
of 'feel good' stories' please help yourself and others by INFORMING THE
PUBLIC AND THE RESEARCH
GRANT GIVERS.
