"Garlic - Research into health benefits continues"
At least one compound in garlic has been proven to have health benefits.
But before you make plans to increase your intake of this pungent herb,
read about what's known and what's still being studied.

"Preterm labor - Signs, symptoms and what to do"

IN THE NEWS:
* * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Hepatitis C:
One percent to 2 percent of the general population in most developed
countries is infected with the hepatitis C virus (HCV), according to an
article in the Jan. 31 issue of The Lancet. This blood-borne virus may
exist in the body for decades, without symptoms, while it slowly attacks
the liver. Find out whether you should be tested for hepatitis C.

Whooping cough:
An older formulation of the vaccine against whooping cough (pertussis)
still plays an important role in worldwide health, according to an
article in the same issue of The Lancet. The older vaccine is not only
highly effective and more affordable for developing nations, but its
side effects are so few that they "defy measurement." Read about
pertussis vaccine in "Whooping Cough: Acellular vaccine has fewer side
effects."

DID YOU KNOW . . .
* * * * * * * * * * * * * *
"Osseous" isn't a forgotten Greek tragedy. It means "pertaining to
bones." Bone up on medical terminology with the O(AT)sis glossary.
