I've had TM for the past 3 months. I had to learn how to self cath,
because the rehab. hospital wouldn't let me out until I learned how.
However, I have been kind of spoiled because ever since I got out
my wife does it for me :) I've had a couple of UTI's since I switched
to the cather's my insurance covers, but antibiotics seem to clear
those up pretty quick. I only self cath about 3 times a day though.
I've just learned not to drink as much anymore, because I really don't
like cathing. Pretty much before and after work. I used to drink about
a six pack of Pepsi during work, now I'm down to one glass of water with
lunch. During work I have to feeling to void but when I do, like most
people,
I don't void all the way. But it's enough until I get home.
I have a question for everyone. I saw my bladder doc. just the other day,
and
I told him my story. He said it sounds like my bladder functions are coming
back, but it could take up to 6 months to see recovery. Because that is how
long it will take the nerve fibers for my bladder to grow back. (Or
something
like that). Has anyone else been told this?? I also asked about the bladder
control medicine that I have seen on the TM list. He said that those
medications are to help your bladder relax, but he wants my bladder to do
the opposite and contract. So I'm not on any med's. How can you tell the
difference?
Thanks for any info.
Kudos,
- Rudy.
