I can help with the second question. I have taken prednisone since 1963.
It has helped me a lot with pericarditis, TM and a few other conditions.
There is occasional heartburn but if I take it right after breakfast it is
not too bad. Also, antacids help. I do have osteoporosis for which I take
Fosomax. But this is after 35 years and I am a 60 year old female with
small bones so I probably would have some even without the prednisone.
Also, after several years of prednisone I was found to have elevated ocular
pressure. It responds to Timoptic eyedrops. So if your daughter is on
prednisone for a long time it would be a good idea to have regular eye exams.
