Congrats that your husband is up and around in
this time line. Tell him to continue to work even as
his progress doesn't show up as great as from unable
to walk to walking. The incontinence is an individual
thing and I don't think anyone can predict how soon,
if ever, the bladder will be "normal". At 20 months and
counting, I continue to have bladder/bowel problems but
nothing I can't live with. For first 5-6 months I had to self-
cath but finally was able to recognize need and get to
bathroom on my own. My urologist told me that the bowel/
bladder were the first to go and the last to return and I have
found that to be true.
You will find that the people in this group can answer many
of your questions and also that we do have an association
which sends out a newsletter and is in general a place for
us to share and learn from each other. It seems to be the
general rule that you'll learn more from other TM people than
from the medical field just because we've been there and there
is just not alot of knowledge available otherwise.
